Dick Gravell, a French-Chippewa man, lived in the vicinity of Sugar Island and Sault Sainte Marie. He played a style influenced by French and Metis tradition. He is featured on Michael Loukinen’s film, Medicine Fiddle. Dick Gravell’s version of St. Anne’s reel is a wonderful setting of the tune. Dick Gravell also had an impact on fiddler Jim Boynton who used to visit him.
